I remember those storms when I lived in Missouri. Everything was encased in ice. It looked like a glass encased fantasy land, only dangerous. Excellent capture. Bunny

Your shot is just awesome! Even though it cold and freezing, the tree is beautiful with the ice hanging on it.

A midwestern commonplace--it rains, suddenly drops 50 degrees Fahrenheit in a few hours, and the whole world is covered in ice. Moby Dick has a bookend--The Confidence Man, which Melville wrote after taking a canal and river boat trip in Illinois. It is perhaps the most brilliant short work of American fiction, and still a century ahead at least. It also vibrates sympathetically with Huckleberry Finn, whose Odyssey ends passing Cairo. I have an old recording in my head of pussy willows (cattails) covered in ice that jibes with this photo, right down to the light. Buon'anno, Richardphotos.

This shot should cool me down a bit, it's 35 deg+ here by us and the humidity been killing me! Excellent details you've captured here Richard.

Nice shot, Richard.... I wondered if you would do this! :) But my icicles were even longer than these. Thank goodness not too many trees broke, at least here.
