Description

We're deeper into the cave and walking through mere slots in the earth. We were hiking at a good clip and there were not too many places with enough ambient light so I resorted to using my flash. (Nikon Speedlight SB-800) In spite of the narrow openings, I tried to light up the inside of the cave beyond the tour guide (and had help in photoshop). We were descending into the wetness many feet under ground. Some of it was rather chilling and a few people needed to resurface. There was evidence of the spring floods as the mud was fairly thick in places, especially as we got nearer to the 60 ft. waterfall. Thanks for having a look! Anything you'd like to say would be appreciated. Have a good week! Jodie Please visit my personal website...

Wow, no place for claustrophobics, that's for dang sure! Fine bit of postwork performed on this stellar capture of the intrepid explorers, carefully treading their way through the awesome cavern, Jodie! Please rent out the DVD movies, "The Cave" and "Descent."

I have always wanted to do slot hiking but I'm a chicken. The threat of rain always makes me find something else to do with my spare time. :-) This is a fabulous shot and I'm amazed at the height of this slot. I sure hope you'll show us the falls from this place.

Another great (and somewhat claustrophobic) shot. Your enhancements of the picture also look very natural and unobtrusive.

this could work as cave interior alone, and then when we see the people, it brings home the immense scale and cloistered feel of the place, because the people are really dwarfed by these walls. The perfect pov to capture this interior (like people entering a womb), but also the broad surfaces of stone which are actually quite monumental. And the amber-gold chunk inside seems like nature's own lanterns; and your framing is pitch perfect. (You've always shown genuine sensitivity to framing & signature...) A lovely shot of one of those places we rarely get to see. Very dramatic & intimate all at once...

We humans are a mere flash in the life span of these formation, eerie looking to some extent. I suppose it was flowing water eating away the curves almost at the same height as their heads. Well captured!
