Description

Believe it or not, I really miss the sub-zero temperatures and snow of the northern hemisphere winters. Cape Town with a decent winter snowfall would be perfect! (it was 30C/86F when I went running at 6 p.m. this evening) This was an exercise in terrain formation and lighting. The original version, which I posted on Artzone, had a tiger walking across the snowfield, but I decided that the DAZ Millenium Big Cat is a bit too dog-like, so I took it out. Vue 7 Infinite, signature in PSP Thanks for looking and if you are kind enough to comment, many thanks for that too! Craig. thumb_1809238.jpg

I think the kitty would have taken away from the unreachable look of this gorgeous piece. Very well constructed and lit. Just kinda cold and rainy here in NJ. I'm jealous.

Your terrain is wonderful and has such a realistic feel to it. I can imagine the creatures of a by gone era walking across this space. Marvelous work!

That's a cool looking terrain, and I like the rays. Might've been more interesting to see more material layers though. The base rock could use some more variation, and a few more layers of snow with different environment settings, bump, colour variations, and a little play with add/replace bump between layers.

The lighting really sets the stage for this render, Craig. Awesome terrain work and the view is a commanding one.

How did I miss this one Craig?Love the contrast of the snowy terrain against the dark sky,as well as the light rays(an effect I wish Bryce had!)Sub-zero temperatures can become a pain...would love some 30C temps right now!

Very beautiful, your lighting is awesome. Gotta say, though, I'm a "northern latitude" person who actually does love winter, so I can understand why you'd miss it.

I partly agree with you about missing the sub-zero temperatures and snow of the northern hemisphere winters. It's something special when the temperature falls down to -40 and lower ;) If nothing else it's a lot better than the wet and soggy weather we have here in England in winter. Only makes for nasty colds. This is a beautiful render...great light and freezing ground.

I have never had the pleasure of viewing such a scene as you have presented here. Not too many places have snow in Aust. Especially Queensland where I live. Beautiful scene. :)
