can anyone tell me what these ducks are doing ?... they kept putting there heads in the buckets and then dug in the mud there ... back and forth for the longest time..it was so funny to watch thanks for you comments ..Im still have this cold and its a miserable one

Whatever they are looking for in the soil. small worms etc, they are probably washing their bills, excellent shots.

Eating and then washing off their bills, I suppose. And that one duck is certainly digging quite a hole there. Nice collection of photos to tell the entire story.

Yep they wash their bill after "filtered" the mud. If you look at a closeup of a duck's or goose's head you can see that the bill has many small lamelles. :) Nice photos!

Darned if I know but I'll go with the washing, couldn't find what a "lamelle" was. A very interesting collage & really like the ducks feather coloring.
