wow, what a capture. This thing is still alive? And you say it stays like that for years? It must have roots going into the ground from a lying position. An amazing capture. It's nice no one removed it, because here in the States, some service would come along and take it away. I guess the tree could say, "it takes all kinds, buddy: Hands off!" Another of your captures that make us see things all over again, anew. Love the shot! Hope you're having a great New Year!

beautiful landscape and it is always a wonder how trees can continue like this, but I can plant a tree and have it die the 2-3 years

This tree is amazing. I've seen your pictures of it for the last few years and it looks no worse off than in the first shot I saw. Maybe it's that gorgeous countryside that preserves its well being.

Excellent capture and well seen, a victim of the hurricane of 85 I would imagine, that's where we had a hurricane that the weather man said "not to worry, we dont get hurricanes in the UK", the next day spawned a ton of phone calls to my insurance company about the oak tree laying across my car :(

I'm always amazed when trees hang on like this. Great shot. I'm struck by the root-base that seems to be an almost perfect square. Any idea why that is? Fantastic photo, love the lush green.

great foto, i remember this tree from your previous pics, eventually the roots will have strenght enough to pull itself back up, maybe in a couple of hundered years, why not start a help the tree back up movement as its clear itsin an uncomfortable situation. (oh well It might be a symbol of the British economy. ;)

"Aye, lass, they make tree hardy up here in Cumbria! This one staged a lie down, during the Miners' Strike, I think it was, and just never seemed to recover from it at all..." Nice image, Rozanne. Maybe it was one of those that grows at an extreme angle, until eventually gravity reasserted itself. Warm regards, as the wild winds shake and rattle my single glazed, steel framed windows. Winter has not finished with us, my friend, John ... ;o)
