Very good picture. I am trying to work out whether it is realistic. Plane has cannons not bombs and would a U-boat be seen in daylight near short range land based aircraft? Picture worth a 5 anyway. BIT OF HISTORY U-99, a Type VIIB U-boat commanded by Otto Kretschmer, sank 44 ships before being sunk by the British destroyer "HMS Walker"on 17 March 1941. Three of the crew were killed during the attack, the rest were taken prisoner. The celebrated Kretschmer was known as the "tonnage king" as he sank more tons of shipping than any other WW2 commander.

Thanks Roboman. The nice thing with CGI is that we don`t have to be realistic and I think its allowed to twist the realty. I have been a newsphotographer all my life. Reality all the way. I also know the history of U-99. See my "U-99" in my gallery.

really nice composition and color in this one...makes it both exciting AND dramatic. i think the lighting with the very cool and sharp highlights, especially on the sub, is very effective. only thing i could add is that a bow wake might really enhance the movement of the u-boat (as is though, the lack of a bow wake does not seem to take away from the composition one bit!)...forester has some really nice ones here at r'osity but i saw some free ones that area great start at http://www.sharecg.com/v/25282/3D-Model/Wakes very nice render!!! thumbs way up!

A well made and put together picture. While Roboman makes some points, Spitfires DID carry bombs, but this shortened there already restricted range even more! Also, it would be quite unlikely, as he points out, that a U-boat would be in range of such a aircraft anyway. Towards the later stages of the war they generally stayed on the surface and fought it out with aircraft as they were heavily armed with AA guns. Ships (Destroyers) were a totally different matter!! Good effort, my friend, Rob.
