Description

Hello All ! Just got back from my first trip to Alaska ( where I got to visit my Sister Joelle and her beautiful family). It was mainly a family time so there wasn't many photo opportunity's (only 4 hours light a day up there so we were indoors most of the time) , but one early evening my sis took me on a spontaneous drive up to where her first home was and her property near a place called flat top in the hills looking over Anchorage. It was -18 out and so we didn't get out of the car . Just as we got up to this view point I said "stop here"! Right then my camera battery died , and so I got my old Nikon 7900 out rolled down the car window and shot this view here . You could see for 300 miles out to the mountains ( if you look carefully you can see them out in the distance in pink ) . What a different world there from where I live in southern California! We had a wonderful trip Christina even learned how to ski for her first time (she had a few runs on the bunny hills then said boring and then went right to the top and came down fearlessly~! ). The sub zero temps were something I have never experienced at one point it got down to - 25 brrrrr I have a picture of Chrissy's hair and eye lashes frozen white with ice from when she went sledding- boy, she really got initiated for her first time in snow ,so weird to come back to record highs near 90s temps here in southern Cal. Anyways just wanted to say sorry I haven't been around and wanted to pop in here and say hi to you all and let you know what I have been up to ! I am looking forward to seeing your beautiful work and getting caught up around here! have missed you all big time !!!! Love to all ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ Kimmers ! :O) ♥

Stunning display! Well done. Those cold temperatures are short lived in the New England winters. Only a few days will be down to minus 20°f .Alaska must be very pretty.

Beautiful shot! I'd love to go there (in the summer!). Fun story too. I lived through the blizzard of '77 in Chicago, and -25 is my personal coldest, so I kinda know what you mean - everything froze in about a second, even tears from my eyes. Brr! It's a nice 70 here in Palo Alto today, what a luxury - I love California.
