Description

Long ago on the planet Verloren, times were simple and the people were content in their lives. In this age there lived the Dragoon Priestesses, Sages and Keepers of Magick. The people of Verloren relied on the Priestesses guidance and magick to illuminate their minds and lives. But as with many cultures, people as well as life styles and circumstances change. While the populace changed, so did their need for the Priestesses. Greed and arrogance threw blinders over eyes that once saw truth, rendering the services of those who were once so valued obsolete. The once proud and peaceful civilization began to crumble. As society eroded so did its faith in the Priestesses. Raids upon the temples began, sacking the sanctuaries for profit. Ignorant vandals destroyed what they thought was outdated and useless, ruthless thieves took everything of market value, stripping the temples bare. The most prized of all items were the Dragoon Orbs. Said to contain great power, the highest magick was used by the Dragoons themselves to contain it. The Dragoons of Verloren made a sacred pact with the Dragoon Priestesses to guard them during their hibernation, sealing themselves within these orbs with till the day of Awakening, when the Priestesses would rouse them from their long slumber. Unbeknownst to those who would steal the orbs, it was the Priestesses and the Priestesses alone capable of harnessing the power contained within the orbs or opening them. Unwary bandits mete their sad fate, electrocuted as soon as they laid a hand upon the orbs. Bathynda, a newly ordained priestess returning from a walk found her temple, the last untouched one in a remote part of Verloren, defiled, its priestesses murdered. Witnessing the horror of the temple's destruction coupled with bodies strewn about, the first thing to enter Bathynda's mind was the Orb. Was it safe within its hiding place still? Running to the secret entrance, she quickly activated the switch and went hurtling through the winding maze of the Labrynth Of Corridors. Only the Ordained knew the way through to the inner chamber where the Orb lay. Reaching the chamber with alarming speed, she breathed a sigh of relief to find its treasure untouched. Taking the Orb in hand, she sped from the temple without hesitation for the Dragoon contained within it was pregnant. On her way, Bathynda noticed a cloud of dust gathering ominously on the horizon. Knowing it to be a sign of those who ransacked the temple and murdered her sisters, she cursed them in her thoughts. 'You unfaithful brigands... your time will come!" *story written by me, wonderfully edited by my fiance. since I tend to jumble my thoughts while writing. Without her, some of my stories I would not be able to post* no postwork other then re-size and name tag

This is a great story Len. It is well written and edited. It is compelling and I would only hope that you add more to this story in the future. You have been really pouring it on lately in your art too. It seems to have taken quite a leap forward in the last while. this is a beautifully crafted piece and your ligting is excellent.
