Description

“Lagartixa” is the local name of the Madeiran Wall Lizard (Teira dugesii) When staying in Madeira, you’ll hardly overlook this lizard. You will encounter these reptiles nearly everywhere, from the shoreline to the highest peaks, at road-sides, gardens, vineyards,… I captured this one at the Ponta de São Lourenço on May 5th, 2008. I never have seen a wall lizard so far (no wall lizards here in the northern part of Germany, only in Baden-Wurttemberg, Rheinland-Pfalz and Bavaria)... lovely portrait. :)
