Description

Continuing excerpts from the diary of Toren Delgado, recording the events of what is now commonly referred to as "The Shortest War": I always thought I'd know what to do when things really got bad, but I never imagined anything like this. The crew of this wounded ship ducked behind the planet in a fast and low orbit, evacuated all but the most essential crew, and lashed our supply of missiles to every nook they thought they could hide them in. Then they signaled our attackers as they came out from behind their shelter, offering to surrender, claiming they had civilians on board who wished to yield. It was a goldmine for the raiders, here were potential hostages. The captain signaled us just before they left: "We are all pieces on the board, and sometimes even the strongest piece will have to be sacrificed to checkmate the enemy's king" There are a thousand clichés about bravery and sacrifice, I think this was one of the better ones I've ever heard. ------------------ Finally taking up the battle once again! I really struggled over what step to do, next with this. I know where I want it to go, but getting there is harder than I expected. The ship is my own creation, modeled and textured in Bryce entirely with primitives. The textures are a mix of presets and my own. The background is all built in Photoshop, including the planet. Effects and compositing, and all post working were done in Photoshop CS3.

Your modelling is superb as usual, as are the visual effects, but what really stands out here for me is the strong light and shade contrast...very nice!
