Thank you for viewing my work. These horizontals are 14x40 inch canvas giclee prints that I do in my home studio. I am just starting to post work I have done over the past few years. A few people think I'm pumping these out.... wish it was true, no like the rest of you it take a lot of time. I am a retired software exec. involved in the development of architectural CAD, who had a secret desire to be an artist. My oldest son, a university professor teaching animation and modeling, pushes me to keep learning to stay sharp.... and I guess out of his hair. My website displays and offer services for those who want period based portraits of themselves..... as well as my personal desires as above. I use Modo, PoserPro, ZBrush, Vue 11 Inf, Painter, and Photoshop in my workflow. My portrait work is based around Photo, Vue, and Painter. If you would like to know more about my efforts, please visit my website, another effort I am learning to do in my retirement, as I fall asleep over many manuals..... I hate reading manuals. For those who wanted to know my hardware configuration: MacPro, 4 core, 11 Gigs ram running a 30", 23" and Wacom tablet....and yes I render in layers or sections to complete these as a final 14x40 inch 300 dpi file when needed.

to start with, i think this is a very good image. personally i always react primarily to the mood or feel of an image. of course there are always things that could be better, but is it that important? the dead trees could be more realistic probably, as is the case with the sand bags, especially on the left. i could find more, but i don't want to, it would not improve the image substantially. the quality lies mainly in the atmosphere in my opinion and that is what i am looking for.

Superb amount of details, nothing should be left to the imagination IMHO in a historical piece and you've certainly not done that. The gun barrel/turret (excuse my ignorance of this) looks newer than the base/wheels, obviously this could be due to a replacement, but i read somewhere that was virtually impossible in the trenches, I may be wrong of course but everything else is beautifully dirty and looks very impressive. I totally agree with your sentiment about contructive critism and wish to make the Vue gallery as a shining example how we as members of Renderosity can learn and grow together whilst still having the best online/friendly community there is. Perhaps a mention on the forum could possibly help this and like you say putting it into action.

Great work! I wouldn't change a thing. My aunt's house was blown away in an F5 tornado last spring, and afterwards, her trees looked just like those in your picture. Wonderful image!

Exceptional image and great atmosphere. What is the light under the gun carriage - it looks like a gas fire - creates a cool reflection across the water. Looks like there is someone leaning against the side of the gun carriage - but the scale is far off as the person would be a giant.

Ok... I'll take the time then hehe First it's a great composition ;) Things I would change though: the cat which doesn't look real, the tree on the left that looks more like it belongs to a surreal scene and the sky that's blending in too much, so I think it should either be much lighter or much darker. Wonderful otherwise :)
