Description

I walked along the Hookton Slough** yesterday at low tide. This is one of the most amazing places, full of birds, thousands of geese, and if you're really lucky (I wasn't, today, at least!!) golden eagles and tundra swans. In fact, I saw very few creatures, but that doesn't make the walk any less beautiful. It was low tide, the sun was out and I had the path to myself. It's about 2 miles from the beginning to the bay. Last year I spent hours there, this year I am REALLY going to dawn to see the swans take off for the fields where they forage. REALLY!!!! **the slough

We'll hold you to it! I have intentions to be all sorts of places at dawn other than the garden, up to now they remain just that! It looks divine!

Safe to assume the path is still dry when the tide comes in? Otherwise, I'm sure you have to keep an eye on those tide tables. Very nice photo here together with interesting info.

wow, full-view this is a winding-into-the-abyss. It's beautiful. And is there anything more metamorphosed than low-tide? (I hope 'metamorphosed' is a word!) There's a feeling of abandoned earth, and it's so bleak and beautiful. Your POV really caught the winding into infinity. Amazing how the earth just thins out to a kind of pre-creation moment; and those blues...beautiful Marilyn. A beautiful capture. So bleak and so peaceful at once... (there's a little "z" out in the bend...do you see it? think that was Zorro?) (can you believe I just said "Zorro"? Did I just give away my age or what...)
