Description

Wikipedia says: "A router is a networking device whose software and hardware are usually tailored to the tasks of routing and forwarding information. For example, on the Internet, information is directed to various paths by routers." Few weeks ago I faced manual-switched (or manual-controlled - I don't know english term for this) computer network. President of the company decided, that manual switching is cheap and easy method to connect computers together........ It looked soooo funny, that I was inspirated to create this picture.%) So, this is my concept of "Routerman" ("Человек-маршрутизатор"). He is a cyborg, who can move fast (not exactly fast, but FAAAST!) to forward packets which are being shooted from tubes. Routerman catches flying packet and throws it to the destination. Catch-throw, catch-throw.......so, packets reach destination.:) Tubes are symbolizing interfaces of the router. Burned packet symbolize "drop packet" situation (router drops packet flying to unreacheble destination, or with incorrect adress). Man is based on James from Poser 6. Network Topology table was painted in Packet Tracer - training app from CISCO systems. Also, I tried to create fire (It looks not enough realistic, but I'll work on it.) Some texture were created in MS Paint. I'll work on them, too. This is the first version of the image, so some pieces need further work. Your comments are welcomed, as always. P.S. I think, that buying a router is much cheaper for any company. Because Routerman needs some reward for his job.:)

LOL, nice concept! Maybe you can take it to your human resources department and say "hire us one of these!" Great job!

Very nice and fun image - I also understand the idea of Boss saying "That is best - do it!" In the end - penny-wide and pound-foolish. Save the small cash and spend the big cash.

Oh I LIKE this one. Being a computer-tech, I can sympathize with your response to your boss' idea. I like how you've done his figure, and love the flying envelopes. As for the fire, I'm not sure what tools you have, but I found a great technique for Photoshop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1dAedHmsuk

@ NetWorthy, I'm really going to print it and do as you say!:-) @ LynLinz, yes! And I've almost created second part of this concept (which will show, what happens, if Routerman would be overloaded). @NefariousDrO, thanx for video! Technique is really great, I'll use it. I have Photoshop, but I don't have enough experience. @ brylaz, it's great that you like it!
