Description

Sallie Howard Memorial Chapel in Mentone, AL. It was built in the 1930s by Col. Milford Howard for his wife. It was inspired by the Glencairn Church in Scotland where Annie Laurie is said to have worshiped. The boulder extends into the sanctuary of the chapel and both Sallie and Col. Howard are interred here. Taken 12/16/08 during a period of mist and heavy rains. Interior view: Howard Chapel interior

This is one of those places, not so significant in the broad spectrum of the world's history, but a cornerstone of local history that joins the world in lore. Outstanding shot and tale.
