In a sense all photographs are ready-mades, and only on occasion perfect, unless one simply accepts most of what is there and considers it an image of this world. This is close to perfect as an image, marred only by the pedestrian and the trash bin. The pedestrian is in the wrong position to say anything worth hearing. Trash bins are always in the wrong place it seems. It is now to the point that one wonders which is more disturbing, trash or the trash bins that litter the landscape? At least trash has a certain randomness to it, while trash bins are the state, and guilt, and sin, and law, and a mirror of the artificial order that is not nature. "Don't litter"--after Tolstoy, mightn't it be preferable for this current species simply to stop reproducing. They will then arrive in a perfect paradise of trashbins and order, where, with Tertullian, and under the watchful eye of GOD THE FATHER, they can look down on the spectacle of litterers suffering all the tortures of hell.
