Description

Hello, many thanks to all who commented on my recent upload :) To give the alien ship a chance to fly before going to my harddisk-nirvana I did this one. The background is a photo I took myself 3 weeks ago by making a 30 second exposure through my 4 inch refractor (500mm focallength) with an EOS 400D, it shows the famous double cluster h&x (h & chi ot simply NGC 869 & NGC 884) within the constellation Perseus. In clear nights a few miles away from large, lightpolluting cities the two starclusters can easily be seen with your naked eye - truly a fine object, and a nice background, though I am not really an astrophotographic expert so these photos are far away from being as perfect as those released by NASA :) Hope you like it.

Very cool scene, made even more cool that the star cluster was shot by you on your own telescope!

Nice integration of photo and rendered elements; terrific flare effects along with an interesting model. I too used to do a fair amount of astrophotography, but living in NYC does not provide much opportunity these days what with the titanic levels of light pollution. Nice image!
