Description
Mandy:
This photo was taken as a quick shot employing the built-in, camera flash. The result was the typical, unattractive green eyes (the canine version of red eyes when a flash is used with people looking directly at the flash)(the red eye fix doesn't work with dogs).
Object here was to fix the green eyes. Success was simple after a little experimentation...PS lasso tool and paint bucket with black paint. To my amazement the highlights stayed and the result is as seen.
Learn something new everyday. Now, no more fear of green eyes!
This is Mandy's favorite place to go if I am going out and she doesn't get to go along.

Lovely shot. :-) I have a similar problem with green-eye when taking pictures of my cats. To overcome the problem, I use a similar technique to the one you describe here except that, once the offending area has been lassoed in PS, I use the brightness/contrast adjuster to darken the area. That preserves the reflections as well as the highlights. Though sometimes that can leave a rather sharply defined edge around the darkened area so a little prudent blurring or smudging around the edge may be called for.

I've been working with that same technique, bringing opacity to just the right level. I don't think I've been quite as successful as you though. And as for lost and found? Well, I think perhaps in her eyes it was you who got lost...she knew where she was all the time. :-)

I use to have a Malamute dog that was huge. one day I came home and I could not see him as he always greeted me before I could even get my vehicle in my garage.I started looking and I found him underneath my storage building. I had to dig out so he could get out.amazing where they can crawl.your dog is beautiful. their breed is so friendly

I did some work with cats eyes... of course not the regular red-eye reduction, but in photoshop, changing the hue, adding color, etc. You did a pretty good job here, it's impossible to see the correction, you can swear that's the original shot!

Very cute shot, Bill. Paint Shop Pro has a red eye removal tool and one can choose a feline eye or a canine eye among the choices and size perfectly and adjust the size and amount of glint. Does PS not have anything like this? It works perfectly for me. But your technique worked very well, too!

Great looking pup! Stellar Photoshop manipulation in this composition, Bill! I'm surprised that the black paint didn't completely opaque the eyes. Was the opaque setting at 100%? Incidentally, Barry Manilow has a song titled "Mandy."
