Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Ahhh ... the perfect solution. This is gorgeous, all by itself! I love the light reflections on the wall.

ditto tara, it's beautiful by itself. What a nice ukulele: a nice black finish, it's really beautiful. And good background to pick up its color, & ditto on the reflections...It's a tough instrument to learn because of the tuning, which is unlike most stringed instruments in the West. (Ok, here comes some music trivia, you might wanna leave the room....) You may know this, but it comes from the old Portuguese cavaquinho which is common in Samba music, which I say because some people think of the uke as a 'toy', whereas it's a wholly serious instrument. Your YouTube sample shows that: The artist was famous & his voice could be angelic; thanks so much for posting him! (He did all that solo too!)...I wish you luck relearning it, it's a charming intimate instrument. And thanks for posting another of your musical 'stash'...

A wonderful shot of an old friend, maybe sometimes nemesis? Lighting is perfect. I like these indoor "studio" shots. This is the time of the year for them for sure. Watched the entire embedded YouTube video...cool idea.

I always think of George Formby when I think of ukelele music. It's a smart looking instrument, my Mum had one and it was a bit shabby, with long ribbons hanging from thr neck!

That's a beautiful instrument! Excellent composition and capture!

Nice composition, M. And, the late, great Tiny Tim also strummed this elegant instrument in his rendition of "Tiptoe through the tulips with me."
