Description

The House Finch is found in much of the USA and southern Canada and part of Mexico.The adult male House Finch or Linnet varies in color from orange yellow to bright red. Studies have shown that brightly colored males are more successful at attracting mates than duller males. Brightly colored males also survive the winter better. To me, this looks like one very successful male.

He looks so cold, though. He may be attractive to females but they are probably in Mexico right now keeping warm. Hang on, little guy, they'll be back. Great shot and color with a depth of focus that is right on.

Oh my goodness!!! This shot is STUNNING!!! It should be on cards!!! I LOVE the house finches for their colors! Here in New Hampshire the state bird is the Purple Finch...but we actually see more house finches, LOL. This shot is just...fabulous!!
