Happy birthday to Kort (today) and Bruce.
You see here a iron beam that have rust on it. We all started out new and no rust but as age come then rust comes and put character on us. some rust will look better that other rust but it still good to look at.
I know this is not the normal image someone will see for a brithday present but you seen the flowers and the lion and cars; which is good. I show you character. hope you both like it

Well, Jock, it is a great idea for a photograph, but the technical quality sucks. What is to be done (after Lenin)? Well, follow your eye, and learn as much as you can from the conventional bozos about technique, which they identify as "quality", when it is only mode. Ignore everything else they have to offer, including "capture" and their two bit aesthetics, unless it is your aim to be a pro selling Kellog's Rice Crispies (what's the Cajun for that?) In a case like this, get out your Photoshop or Corel Photopaint. At any rate, the image, despite its technical deficiencies, immediately brings to mind Akthenaton. Who is Akthenaton? Look it up in your Funk and Wagnalls, or maybe Wikipedia. And be prepared to misunderstood. Whatever you think of Maplethorpe's subject matter--better study him closely. He was a GREAT photographer.

What cars? I didn't post any cars. Really stellar macro of the rust, Jock. Actually, it looks like the best rust I've seen in a very long time. And you're right, lots of character in the texture.
