Description

Today is the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, Scotland's great poet. I had an invitation to lunch today with some friends of Scottish descent. it was a celebratory lunch, with drams of whiskey, haggis with tatties and neeps, many toasts and the men there shared the reciting of Burns' poem 'To the Haggis'. And i can report the haggis was excellent.. People of Scottish descent around the world will probably sing 'Auld Lang Syne' ( For old times sake) as the old year passes into the new. We stand in a circle with hands joined remembering friends of old..quite moving words. This is Burns' most well known work, I think. I didn't have my camera with me so I cropped a photo from Sept where a haggis was piped into the dining room.. Thanks for your comments once again.......Jean

I had hoped to get over to our Burns celebration but didn't make it. I was looking forward to that haggis! It sounds like you have a good enough time for the both of us though and I hope the haggis was as outstanding as this shot.
