I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

You know this is definitely the first ' Terragen - like ' landscape picture where someone has actually shown interest in and taken the trouble to create Cumulus congestus clouds in the sky above !!! They are certainly very impressive , dynamic , and not least beautiful - not to mention that they make the landscape so much more interesting when there is a superb sky to observe as well ! Let's see some fantastic Thunderstorm clouds soon ! Cumulonimbus incus etc

this is outstanding!! the landscape itself is awesome, but together with those clouds... awesome++ ;) you have created not only a beautiful realistic vista, it reminds me of old master paintings, they often used such clouds to enhance the greenlands.

Your TG2 work is getting better and better all the time Bob. This is another superb work!!!

Beautiful Job.

A superb POV for this- the surface details, rocks and plants are all perfectly placed. I love the shadow falling on the background hills. An evening thunderstorm is sure to boil up here!

I can see something of Cézanne in this one ...
Savage_dragon
Very realistic & well done. Wonderful POV with a great sloping terrain. The veg. is perfect! I thought the clouds were a little thick & blocky, but I know less than nothing about TG2 & have no room to talk. Lol. An excellent piece of art! ")

I think the terrain and mats are very nice but the clouds (though a brave attempt)are quite unrealistic. The look more like some foam then clouds, their shadows look like painted on. Although I like their shapes. Cumulonimbus are very hard to make...

I agree with Slav; for me the clouds are too soap sudsy, and therefore unrealistic. They would be better if you decreased their Density and Edge Definition. The terrestial part of the scene is excellent in its realism. For more informed and knowledgeable criticism you might consider posting this to Planetside Forums.

I believe you are far along the path of artistic excellence!!!

Hey Bob this is FABBO! I really like the realism here esp the shadows and vegetation placement. POV is also good - this really is a winner.
