Description

Got to do at least one featuring depression since it's such a big part of my life, unfortunately. I was going to name each mermaid piece after a Greek Nereid but then I decided to go with neat sounding names that had appropriate meanings. This is Deirdre which means sorrow or broken-hearted in Gaelic. Here, Deirdre is depressed and crying in the darkness when the light begins to shine thanks to her friends' attempts to cheer her up. I was going to make all of the image dark but then I thought "why would the dolphins be in darkness?" It's much better this way; more symbolic. Also symbolic are the ruins; a ruined life. I had a completely different idea in mind when I started this image but, like most, it took on a life of its own.

I see you too tell the tale of your life for those who can read in between the lines.. In my case not a ruined life but a wasted one.. Envokes the same emotions though..
