Description
The Carson & Colorado Railroad was incorporated in 1880. By 1883 the narrow (3') gauge line stretched 300 miles from Mound House, Nevada to Keeler, California. Southern Pacific purchased the Carson & Colorado in 1900 and converted the northern portion to standard gauge. The southern part of the line remained narrow gauge until it was abandoned in 1960.
There are still a few remnants of the old C&C left today, such as this depot in Keeler, originally built in 1886 (Second story added in 1917).
