Description

Succubus Succubi/succubae (the plural of succubus) have been in the dreams… and nightmares of men throughout history. According to many cultures and mythology a succubus is a demon who take the form of a beautiful woman to have sex with men in their dreams. It is thought one of the reasons succubae have sex with men in their dreams is to collect their semen. It is generally thought in many mythologies and cultures that male demons are sterile and/or cannot reproduce (at least not in the usual way). Many believe succubae collected semen to give to their counterparts the incubi (male demons). These incubi would use this semen to impregnate women who they visited and the act would spawn a deformed child (unfortunately an old explanation why deformed children were born) and/or they were more likely to be susceptible to supernatural influence…. Possibly becoming a demon. The word derives from succuba from succubare "to lie under", from sub- "under" and cubare "to lie". It is likely the meaning “to lie under”, besides the obvious connotation, come from stories of Lilith allegedly the first succubus. Lilith, according to some religions and numerous cultures mythology was the first wife of Adam before Eve and eventually becomes the mistress of Satan and a succubus. Many also feel that it was a jealous Lilith who was disguised as a serpent and tricked Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. In these versions Lilith left Adam in what may have been the first argument about sexual preference…. Though most feel it was more about the balance of dominance and submission between male and female. According to these texts (primarily The Alphabet of Ben-Sira) Adam and Lilith immediately began to fight. She said, 'I will not lie below,' and he said, 'I will not lie beneath you, but only on top. For you are fit only to be in the bottom position, while I am to be the superior one.' From these references some feel there is a is a correlation of the Latin meaning of “Succubus” “to lie under” and the biblical/mythical/Ben-Sira Lilith. Lilith left and reputedly coupled with demons and then Satan and became his mistress. In Jewish mysticism she was the first of the four original Succubae (Lilith, Eisheth Zenunim, Naamah and Agrat Bat Mahlat) and collectively are often called the angels of prostitution. Some religions or sects also call them the Queens of Hell and feel they are responsible for spawning countless demon offspring. There have been Succubus in many cultures and in many forms, however much or their lore relates back to Lilith or various other incarnations are attributed to be the same or similar. One of the most interesting is Lilitu (Sumerian/Babylonian) which dates back to 4000BC. Lititu directly translated means female night being or demon. This is very fitting because beside coming to men in their dreams most lore of Succubae also associate them with preying on children, often being killers of infants. In the middle ages (and up the a few hundred years ago) in was common for amulets be used to ward off Lilith/Lititu/Lilin/Lamia from taking the lives of infants. It was thought that male children were at risk for 1 week and females 3 week from birth. It is interesting to note that the myths of succubae (as many myths) was used to explain unknown science or biology. With Succubus being thought to have sex with men in their dreams, it became the common explanation for centuries as to why male sometime have sexual emissions (wet dreams) in their sleep. It was thought a succubus came to them. ------- V3 and M3 - Yes I still use them often!! In any case, I hope you like my Succubus.... and sweet dreams WA-HAHAHAHAHA

Nicely done image and wonderful writeup. M3 is a bit hard to figure out. So is the succubus as a winged demon old or is that a more recent addition?
