This was taken Saturday evening around dusk in the busiest shopping area of Memphis. It's part of the many shopping centers surrounding Wolfchase Mall. Saturday at dusk this store should be jumpin', as it once was not too long ago. But now it's vacant, and I can't even remember what business used to be located there. They even took the sign in the front of the building with them. But people starting spending less, and the store eventually reached a point where it could no longer turn enough of a profit to cover the pricy real estate, pay their employees and the outrageous government taxes, and still create enough of a return for the investment. So they closed shop and went out of business. People lost their jobs, which means they'll be spending a lot less too. And the beat goes on. So all that remains of a once bustling business is this empty building, and a sign of the times in this case is one simply saying "For Rent".
