Description

Shot this a few days ago, the Red Winged Blackbirds and the Grackles were fighting over this feeder. The Grackles came in and took over the feeders running of the song birds as the always do by large numbers. But the Red Winged Blackbirds stood their ground for their share of the treasures this house held. They put on quite a show until I ran off the Grackles to allow the song birds to return problem is they don’t run far so it my be time to fell the feeders with safflower, Black birds don’t like it song birds will eat it, it’s a little easier than standing guard LOL. Thanks for your views and comment hope all is having a great week.

Great capture - it can be a great show to watch the birds in their dance for control sweeping in and out for the food.

Wonderful capture. The color from the red winged blckbirds pulled my eyes right into the picture. I use thistle and it draws the smaller birds. Good luck. Dana P

I love driving through the farming areas here and seeing the hundreds of red wing blackbirds sitting in the reeds along the irrigation canals. They appear to be tough little birds. Wonderful shot of this confrontation.

I know exactly what you mean with the crackles forever running the song birds off. Good tip concerning the safflower. Great capture of the beautiful wing colors. Thanks for posting.

Beautiful wing spread! So hard to catch both the red and the yellow on these guys! And you actually have them at your feeder... I've only seen them out in the country!
