Description

THE DARK BIRDS FLEW The dark birds flew, at dawn with engine's roar in squadrons above the city's roofs. Then we saw and understood to the core of our hearts that we would taste the bitter bread of slavery. Part of a song that tells how the Danes felt when, on the morning of April 9th 1940, we saw the He. 111s of the German Luftwaffe flying in formations above the royal city of Copenhagen.
