Description

Another in my series of images exploring the use of lattices for structures, this time I wanted to create an ancient, weathered temple ruin overun with jungle growth. The totem structures and walls are lattices formed from templates created in Photoshop which I imported into the terrain editor and aged using the smoothing and subplateau settings. The texture is from Arroway Textures. The distant mountains are a terrain created using the square brush in the editor, and the gaussian edges, smoothing, subplateau and mounds settings. The texture is from Cg Textures,as is the grass texture(which I customized in Photoshop by changing the hue and saturation). The foreground trees are arbaro freebees from jrcejaspulido, those within the ruins are 2D trees by XFrog from Daz3D.The foliage is a Bryce preset,as is the sky(the lighting and atmo are custom). Thanks for viewing, your previous comments, and any you wish to leave!

Fantastic POV. These structures remind me of ancient objects perhaps existing in the Andes from centuries past.

The lattices give an overpowering sense of drama, instantly suggesting ancient tribal images and spiritual structures. Great piece!

Excellent composition of terrains and great POV to create the idea of high and abrupt hills. Super textures and very well done lattice-totems.

Nice steep perspective. That one tower looks like it's going to come down at any moment! I wonder what treasure it will reveal underneath it...

Excellent viewing angle. The totems are very good. I almost missed the temple, well hidden as it should be. Great terrain work and the material applied is absolutely believable. Great trees and bushes, too. Excellent sky and perfect lighting for such a subject.

Your lattice and texture work always amazes me Neil, this is really fabulous. The POV gives a great sense of scale and one can just imagine ancient rituals and monks praying in ths area before the ruins set in. Excellent and inspiring work as always, you keep bringing me closer to loading up the Bryce terrain editor. I think I'll have to find a few tutorials on the subject. Tony.

Easter Island 5000AD! Great modelling and mats in this - adds to the sense of mystery in this place! The low POV gives this drama which works really well! Well done! Thanx for your comments - its great to be back! :-)
