Description
After his shocking revelation in the 'Hall of Truth', the young Prince left the chamber and quickly pulled on his clothes and armor. He returned down the hall thinking only of leaving this strange and mysterious palace. He hadn't traveled far when he realized things were different. This wasn't the hall he had come down before! Or was it? Turning another corner, he found himself in another huge chamber. This was exquisite architecture on a collosal scale. Beautiful frescoes were on the ceiling. He walked over to a pillar and leaned against it so as to better look up at the beautiful ceilings. Suddenly, a chill went up and down his spine. He felt paralyzed with fear. He couldn't look around. It was like he was a statue. He could hear the sound of very heavy foot fall on the polished marble flooring. It got closer and closer, but still he couldn't move. Then, in a loud and commanding voice, he heard these words, 'Fear not, young Prince! I will not harm you.' And suddenly, the spell was broken. The Prince looked around and nearly fell to the floor in a feint. Before him stood a huge dragon. He nearly reached to the ceiling, he was so tall. The Prince was very much shaken. The dragon spoke. His tone was very calming. You are my son. I know by the smell of your blood that my blood also flows in your veins. 18 years ago, your mother traveled through this forest to visit her father. She had been wed to your 'stepfather' many years without issue. I could tell she was saddened at the prospect of never having any children. I am able to assume any form I wish. I posed as a servant to get close to the Queen, your mother, and hear her discuss her fears and sorrows. After so many years with no heir to your 'stepfather's' throne, there was foolish talk, bad advice from your 'stepfather's' advisers, that perhaps the Queen was barren and should be sent into exile so that the King could get a new wife. I heard this while in one of my many disguises. While the King pondered this advice, the Queen was sent away to visit her father one last time. When her entourage entered this forest, I commanded the forces of nature and brewed up a storm. While it was raging, I caused her coach to be separated from the rest. I saw to it she was guided onto a magical road of my creation and led to this very palace. No one can see it unless I allow them to. She and her coachman and three ladies-in-waiting spent the night in this palace. They all fell under my spell. We had very magical times together that night. The next day, I sent her and her group on their way to her father's kingdom. Your 'stepfather' was very distraught when he realized he had almost lost his beautiful wife and relented his ever even considering his stupid advisers suggestions to banish the Queen to exile. They had a magical night after being reunited and your 'stepfather' was never the wiser that he was not your father. As a precaution to keep you safe, I had the other three ladies-in-waiting bear youngsters too so that you would have your own kind around you as you grew up. You never knew your true history for I planted a different story in your Mother's mind and the minds of her coachman and three ladies-in-waiting that made them think that nothing had happened here that night other than they had attended a huge banquet and had a most lovely time. I have kept an eye on your progress as you have grown into manhood. I knew of the long tradition of the quest for the chalise that has marked every one of your 'stepfather's' ancestors, including his, passage into manhood. The test of the quest it is called. I knew you would be coming here again and led you to my door to reveal your true history to you. Any questions?

Very nice and fantastic story. I love very much the soft shadows over the floor and the armor. The palace is very nice and seems to have an italian spirit inside, with the painted perspectives in the "Trompe-lóeil" vignettes. The story is strong and have a very nice references in ancient legends. Would be nice to write and draw in a book tale, with your own illustrations. Congratulations again!
