UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Marvellous photo, Bill, and a most interesting narrative!

I fear the porch roof is going to change in the very near future without attention. Nice pic - a country road scene for sure.

Great contrast of the ages. Well done. Noted the new vs old with the roof on the building being metal and the porch shingles.. Looks like solar lights next to the door. great study,

Did you happen to get a date on the post office? There is an old one out here that is beautiful and still in use the town it is in seems to be almost stopped in time I may have to get out there and get you a photo of it.. Nice work. Happy Friday!

A piece of History AND a sign of the times, unfortunately! Much the same goes on here. The closing of Post Offices, with no thought to those who have no transport or the old and frail! (Grump. Moan!) It's a real shame that 'Money Rules'! Cool Postwork, my friend. Rob.

I saw a place like this somewhere not too long ago, think it was somewhere in oregon. my grandparents had one of those old gas pumps right at their house, we used to love to turn the handle, though it was locked and hadn't been used in years. i'm sure there was some hugely environmental issue with it later!! great shot, love your selective color!!

Wonderful juxtaposition of old and new! Creative selective coloring! why do I have a sudden urge to get out my John Denver CD?? :)

Sometimes I think the times need to change a little more slowly. I know which era i'd rather spend time in. Wonderful image Bill. and if it were not for the and truck (we called em Ford Cargo here) this could easily have been an old shot. Please post more of these.

A wonderful escape into the Twilight Zone with this nostalgic capture, Bill! Expect to see Bonnie and Clyde step out of the door at any moment. Gas was a dime a gallon back then, or at least not over a quarter. Stellar clarity and textures in this one

excellent find Bill and selective coloring

I like this a lot. It takes me back, to remember buildings like this when they were still in use. I can see the worn, wide-planked wooden floors, a different color in front of the door, and lower than the rest of the place. There was a soda machine in my town ... let's see ... I believe it opened from the top, like a chest freezer. I used to think old people were weird, remembering stuff like that ...

Wonderful capture of history mixed with future history.

There is a great feeling to this. Sort of blending of old and new with the old winning out. The b/w is a perfect way to show this beauty off.

Great picture! I have a picture of one of these pumps. They are neat. They had a sign for the gas as 13 1/2 cents.

A great find and capture Bill. There is something to these old towns. One can find some of these old houses and gas stations along stretches of the old Route 66 in Arizona too.

I was hoping that you would say that the passing motorist could still use the old pump! Nice use of selective coloring.
