Description

This show took place on the second day of the cruise in the 'Venetian Palace', the 1500-seat autitorium that spans three decks on the Carnival 'Liberty'. There were different shows each night, two performance per night. I am not a person that goes to shows, Broadway or Las Vegas, but this show was fantastic. It was a dance number with dances (and costumes) from Siam (Thailand), China, Japan, Italy, Ireland, Spain, and France. What amazed me the most was how fast the costume and stage changes occurred, literally only seconds between each number. This was also the most difficult picture to take. I sat on the third balcony up, and had the camera in zoom, and the action on stage was fast. Constant changes in the dance routines and the lighting. The ligthing provided for the numbers was lovely, but not enough to provide enough light for picture taking. We weren't supposed to take flash pictures, but the in-built camera flash was not powerful enough to make any difference anyway. And time exposure was out of the question, and not an option for this little camera. There were many wonderful scenes, all worthy to be captured by a camera, but this image was the only one that came out halfway acceptable, and it isn't very sharp. This picture was taken on 25 January 2009. Thank you for viewing and commenting on my recent uploads and a special 'Thank you' to those that may have added some of them to their favs. I am going to upload some more picture of the ship, because many of you don't seem to be aware what is offered. Until two years ago I had no interest in going on a cruise ship, but I am beginning to like it, and the Caribbean Sea is an ideal place to start. Island hopping at night and sightseeing during the day. Each location we stopped there were literally dozens of options as to what to do. I think the cruise was a bargain, considering what was offered, but one has to be careful not to get suckered into spending too much. All alcoholic beverages cost money, and they are not cheap. Since everything gets added automatically onto a credit card, it is easy just to buy, until reality sets in when the bill is presented upon departure. Gimmicks such as having ones picture taken upon arrival, or departure of each port, but also the shopping opportunities on board, and the casino. Keeping these things in mind, it can really be fun. Food, all kinds, is available 24 hours a day, with formal, or semi-formal dining each night.

The way you talk about this trip makes me wish I could do one someday. It seems awfully crowded but the air seems charge with electricity and experiences at the fingertips.

You've really caught the feel of the performance, Sig! Your narrative is fascinating, you should charge the comapany a fee! My brother has also acquired a taste for cruises, but I prefer my hotel to keep still.
