Description

This was the worst friday the 13th scenerio that could possibly happen - as far as me and Renderosity. I have had an electrical connection problem with my computer for the last year... after uploading BONDAGE: II "X" yesterday on FRIDAY THE 13TH, I lost all power. Apparrently the electical jack on my computer was lose and finally moved enough to where it does not work. I removed some parts to see that that is the problem. I contacted Dell and it appears I'm going to have to pay around $500 to fix it... I don't have it... and I don't see me getting it... ...So... THIS IS GOOD BYE... My Wife has a computer, but she uses it all the time, I can not use it. I will have to repair my computer. THE COMPUTER I USE: DELL INSPIRON 2200 I have been searching the net for parts. Dell says I need Part #DC766 After looking for 3 hours, I have to get off the computer... I'll call locall areas and see what I can find. If you know of a link for parts, please leave it in my comments... AS FAR AS THE BONDAGE STORY??? I could tell you what was going to happen, but... I think this is a fitting conclusion until I can come back which may be a long time from now... ENDING OF BONDAGE: II - - - - Redips the ship malfunctions just like my computer and is stranded in Hell... A very sad and Horrible ending, but it's true... without my computer, I can't make the next two scenes... So, that is a fitting end to the story and me THE PICTURE POSTED TODAY I posted last year and was able to copy and paste as my finally SORRY FOR MY LOSS, I WILL MISS THIS PLACE WE ALL LOVE, TAKE CARE AND STAY INSPIRED... ONE LAST THING... "I won't forget about you, If you don't forget about me" - Def Leppard. PEACE TO YOU ALL, THIS PLACE WHERE EVERYONE FROM AROUND THE WORLD COMES TO TEACHES US ALL WE ARE ALL THE SAME - WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS - WE'RE ALL FAMILY - GOOD BYE AND GOOD LUCK.

Oh no!!!! Bad news for you and for us :( I hope you're able to get the computer fixed. Mine is 5 years old and I don't have the money for a new one either. Best of luck and please drop in and let us know how you are. The library has free computer connection. That's what I used when I lost my connection last time.

Since the computer you have is a laptop it's a bit more complicated than replacing a power supply in a desktop PC. The power connector is soldered to the system mainboard- this is basically the main circuit board that houses your CPU, onboard graphics, USB, Ethernet, and PCMCIA slots (I am looking at the part right now). Probably should have mentioned it was a Laptop in your post- a lot of people are going to think its a simple power supply replacement in a desktop computer that would only cost $50 bucks. For $500 its just not worth it. Your laptop is an Intel Pentium M 735 (1.7GHz) Processor which is quite a few generations old, and for less money than the part needed to repair it you can replace it with something much newer and way faster. Granted; this would be a desktop system and not another laptop-but for $450 you can get a desktop with a dual core or core2 duo with 4GB RAM - leaps and bounds faster at rendering/everything than what you currently have. As you mentioned, you do not currently have the funds to do this, but I am just throwing this information out there so you understand that repairing the laptop would cost more than buying something much faster and more powerful in all regards- the downside is it would not be portable like a Laptop/Notebook. The first order of business is to check the solder points on the power supply connector on the mainboard and see if it can be repaired- if they are loose or something it could easily be soldered back on tight. If it is already tight and snug, then the problem may reside on the mainboard itself and it's not something you could fix. You mentioned something about a gap or looseness in the power supply connector- from that description it may be fixable. Send me a PM with your number and I can take a look if you want- just a few miles south of ya, as you know- helping a fellow artist out in a time of need is good Karma! Did I mention that I build computers and am a network/system and MS Exchange Admin? ;) On to the image- nice characterization of frustration in the seated guy- he really looks ticked off, and its not easy to get realistic emotions out of these 3D meshes- it takes some work and attention to detail- very nice!

Sorry to hear about your computer problems! Ah, these bits of techno junk can really throw us for a loop when they want to, can't they? I hope you get your system repaired and manage to get back to your Rendro family!
