My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!
If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.
Thanks for your interest in my work, and for stopping by to learn more about me!

Sounds like someone has been reading 'Time Enough for Love' again! Enlightened Self-interest, once you know the person's wants and needs, you can make him/her geek for anything. Great words

Your brain's just fine--I love these little trips it takes!!

A most enjoyable read... You handle this form very well. Now, subject-wise, I had to refresh my thinking with a visit to my dictionary. I still have one on a book shelf nearby, can you believe that? Yes, I know I can google it too. Let's see, "Concern for the welfare of others, as opposed to egoism; selflessness." So, you won't agree to pure selflessness on the part of anyone. On the surface, I must agree...but that's no fun. I'll give this more thought and turn my paper in later :)

Great topic for debate, I have no doubts :o) .....I would imagine there are some truly altruistic people around....yes? Good one T and hope the eye's doing ok...I'm thinking of you

I like your little brain trips too, It's hard to be altruistic in this crazy world today :(

ya know, my mother was an artist, a painter who wrote "just to make people think" sometimes she would pull a thought out just to start two opposing views to draw them into discussion with each other. There was an art to what she did with the brush as well as the work. You dearheart; of like spirit. This is saved for more thought!

I don't have much of a comment yet....I'm still thinking and pondering. You have a talent for making us think.

for a long time I did service (centered on the heart rather than on a faith or anything like it), and I knew people who helped others far better than I, and it's truly a complex thing, it's never selfless, I mean never. You give but you receive, you touch but you're touched, you bring your fears & hurts to it just as your light & love, and so does the other. It's a big mass of connections & swirls, and "selfless" kind of fades into the distance. I mean, it's not even an issue of selfish & selfless: It's something out of the box..."Connected" is more like it, or trying to be connected. In any case, it includes both selves, not just one. So your poem feels right to me. There's no one-way street in life, and altruism implies distant connection, even sterile. Connection is passionate, I agree with what you wrote...
