Description

Light reconnaissance vehicle "Cheetah", available soon for free (name given by Rogerbee). Ps. I'm NOT happy with the dust, but had no time to try to do it better...

I"M happy with the dust! That is a really cool model, and something that has been needed for awhile! Its extraordinarily nice of you to be offering this one for free! Great image. The only suggestion I'd have is to have some tracks leading off into the distance, but that is a very minor point!

I have no problem with the dust as far as the look. I think the bigger problem is the muzzle flash merges with the background and competes for the foreground with the door frame. I'd recommend a dominant light to justify the muzzle flash and motion blur on the gatling barrels. Nice looking vehicle, btw.

Before I read your words below this fab picture, I was thinking, I'm impressed with the dust effects! And the wheel motion.... Ha! Just goes to show. Rob.

Ok, ok! I admit it doesn't look bad for dust, lol! The problem is, I was trying to make it to look like sand and dust, not just dust ;) The spinning wheels have been done with motion-blurred (is that even a word?) displacement and texture maps and only the center of the rim is postworked. I tried to add motion blur to the barrels too, but it looked so awful whatever I did that I just dropped it. And I agree about the muzzle flash.

Very well done and great - Sand/Dust mmmm I can not say I have seen a vehicle through actual heavy sand but this looks along the lines that I have seen on beaches - but yeah sand would be heavier then the dust unless the wheels where really spinning and not gaining traction.

Excellent render. Actually the dust looks good. And the product is excellent for something that was freeware. I may use it in a graphic novel I am working on...if so Porsimo will be added to the credits.
