Description

Do we ever really stop and study the world around us?In our hectic day to day lives,do we really study the plants in our garden?Do we pay attention to the design of the spiderweb draped over the hedge beside the spot where we park the car each day on our arrival home?Do we really see the wasp resting on the dead leaves that have fallen into the murky water at the ponds' edge, the barely frozen water melting in the warmth of the morning sun,the insect returning from it's near brush with Deaths' cold grasp as the life returns with the sun? What if it wasn't an insect, but an ingenious copy...a scout from another world looking in on our daily lives and reporting back to an awaiting armada? That was the premise behind this image.I also wanted an excuse to delve further into the terrain editor. Using a photo of dead leaves from cgtextures.com,I loaded it into the terrain editor and created a 3D version of it.With some slight softening, and flattening of the height once back in Bryce,I then rendered it in the same photo.I was left with a three dimensional forest floor that looked pretty realistic. The wasp is the Robowasp from Daz3D,posed in DazStudio.Lighting is custom, and the image was rendered in Premium with soft shadows and true ambiance selected.Post involves sig in Photoshop, and a deep bloom filter effect in Photoscape 3.3.Thanks for viewing and previous comments!

Amazing work! The leave affect is very realistic and the water looks like it's flowing over the dead leaves. Great concept too.

This is one of those 'take the time to smell the roses' scenes for you never know just what is watching you. Creative idea, Neil, with the use of the leaves applied to a terrain.
