This is one of the loudest works I have had the pleasure of viewing for a very long time. Speak and Destroy!

I live in France and was really frightened with the growth of the national front. I was thinking of a poser work about that, but yours is really speaking to me! We all must reject racism and intolerance! For your pcture, it's a really good one, but where the words come from? are they yours?

The words are inspired by a sermon by pastor Martin Niemler, a German anti-nazi activist. There are numerous versions of that text but this one is mine, respecfully adapted from what I found on http://serendipity.magnet.ch/cda/niemoll.html

Bravo to you SurfAce for posting this. I think that too few of us, particularly here in America, ever stop to realize that, regardless of how bright and shiny the icing, we are still being fed Fascist cake. I am familiar with Niemoller's words, and your adaptation is excellent. I agree with futuramik, that this should be everywhere, in people's faces, so that they may, if only for a moment, wake up and open their third eye and see beyond the veil. I am of the firm belief that we need some evolution before we can truly have a global revolution, and to do that we all need to realize on thing...if I may quote a trio not so eloquent as Niemoller: "Here's one more thing in life that you should not miss/do not be a fool who is prejudice/because we are all written down on the same list/yeah it's like that, and that's the way it is" - that's by Run DMC, from their first album when they actually had some interesting things to say. Anyway, I have run into the forces of fascism myself a few times recently, and understand that freedom only extends as far as the length of the leash we all wear. Again, great job. Namaste. And as to the rest of you reading this, learn from yet another master, Bob Marley - "Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, for none but ourselves can free our minds."

Ah finally! I was getting afraid that the bait was too big and that my moron fishing session would remain unfruitful this time. I knew I couldn't attack fascism on Renderosity without finding at least one person who would defend it. Thanks Eukodol.

positively eerie and scary, and perhaps scarier that someone would defend the actions of fascists. i vaguely remember seeing a post in a forum here afer 9/11 of how hackers were banding together and were going to shut down arab chat rooms and websites and such. groan. it's too bad you didn't post this sort of thing earlier, because i went to the 2d gallery exclusively quite a while ago due to lack of this sort of message in pics and too many poser boobies. in fact, i only stumbled upon this because lookoo commented on something i had posted.

Sorry I made the mistake of complimenting your artwork. I wasn't aware that expressing an opinion about a cheesy 3d rendering would mean I was "defending fascism". Grow up.

Often I am frightened to view the images on Renderosity as they seem (especially post sept 11) to be a soap box for the daleks of the art world. My breast relaxes from the consent trembling anticipation of the next ultra right wing piece of drivel attaching itself to art like a malevolent parasite. Thankyou SurfAce for having the courage to even the score...........and I really do like the picture as well!

You forgot to say, Eukodol, that before complimenting the graphic quality of the picture, your comment started by "the message stinks but..."

Oh, and besides that, "...they came for the communists" and "Fascism is the gangrene of the world"?!! You ever hear the word "gulag"? How about "Pol Pot"? Ever hear of him? Thank God for Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher--and for the goodwill of the people of the United States, who were willing to shoulder enormous expense to defend Europe for 45 years, even after sacrificing hundreds of thousands of our young men in Europe's two 20th Century wars.

ah, another "better Hitler than Stalin" who thinks he saved the world alone. And what? Ever hear of Pinochet? A living proof that the US support democracy when it's their interest, and fascism when it's their interest. Europe has somehow been lucky to be more profitable when democratic. But I agree that communist regimes have been totally unhumman, and didn't need US backing for that.

Another thrilling testament to paranoia. The guys in black coats should be wearing turbans, but heck, what's reality got to do with anything, right? Now repeat after me: Dubyah knew and let it happen to boost his popularity; terrorism is the result of U.S. foreign policy; we are being enslaved because airports are searching luggage; Al Gore really won the election. Oh, and Bill Clinton was a great president who did NOT encourage Osama to build up his organization. Free my mind and question authority? I have and I do. That's why I don't buy into this drivel.

SurfAce

5:22AM | Sat, 01 June 2002

Mech you're mixing what I say with what some friends of mine say and with what some of my detractors say, and that proves, if needed, that you are not the brightest crayon in the box. Go back to sleep now, we don't need you. And yes, the attacks of sept 11th are the result of US foreign politics, otherwise the terrorists would have attacked another country, duh! (But it is more convenient to think that they are simply crazy, so you don't have to think about the real causes, which are not very nice)

SurfAce

About the guys that "should be wearing a turban" I don't give a shit about you're Neo-MacCarthyism (apparently anybody wearing a turban is a potential terrorist, isn't it) so keep it for yourself, and about being enslaved because the airports are searching luggage, check out the Human Right Watch site, at http://www.hrw.org/campaigns/september11/ and realise plainly the consequences of your fear.
