Description
Captured 2/14/09, very early in the morning, within walking distance of my reactionary residence. This is from the same succulent patch that I previously posted one of on 2/7/09.
This time I brought along my tape measure, and when I say humongous, this beauty spanned 24-inches/60.96 centimeters (2-feet/0.6096 meters) horizontally from tip to tip. That is one big Mother! Not so humble this one!
It is commonly known as Hen and Chicks -- actually, they remind me of huge artichokes -- the Latin name is Sempervivum (always living). Just one of forty varieties of this genus, which belongs to the Crassulaseae family of succulents.
The early morning sun really brought out the shadows and overnight dew on this lovely.
Much better viewed full size.
It was adjacent to the corner curb and growing out toward the street where I was standing, which was close to the curb. And, yes, there was some traffic on the move behind me, but anything for a photo, I always say. We picture takers laugh at danger!
Thankx for dropping by, and may this be the beginning of a most propitious week.

Voluptuous, attractive, "hot," appealing to the eye! That's one bodacious sucker Harry:) Your photography and collage is peerless. I like how fruitful you are making your early morning walks.
