Description

It's been quite a while since I posted one of my Bryce renders. This one came together slowly - kinda invented itself. I started out playing with some of the various textures I've collected from the World Matters series. I mixed a couple of them up and ended up with a desert texture that I liked, so I created a dunes-like terrain, multiplied it several times and spread it about to make a big area. At that point I was at a "so now what" point. I remembered that I'd picked up an Aqueduct from here some time ago. It's called The Aqueduct (go figure), and it's by vbarreto. It's also just $6, so if you're in search of a cool prop go get it. So, I stuck in a couple copies of the aqueduct in the middle of my desolate desert. It still needed something and suddenly the 3D Camel for Poser by 9mbi seemed like an excellent choice. You can get that here. I think he's a little snazzier looking than the old DAZ camel. Well, as snazzy as a nasty spitting critter can get. I just about about ready at this point, but I didn't like the sky I had. I wanted a lot of atmosphere, and wanted to emphasize the extreme heat. Man's ambitions had failed and nature had taken things back, etc. I tried out several skies and finally settled on the yellow one you see in the image. It's one of the skies that comes with the base program. This is probably one of the shorter renders I've done in Bryce. It took less than an hour, maybe 45 minutes. The setup took a lot longer mostly because I started the whole thing just as a lark to play with textures, with no actual idea in mind.

Simple but brilliant for it! The atmospherics takes center stage and the environment must blend into it. Seriously good stuff, especially since it wasn't planned.

This really came out well! Some of my best pictures came out of just messing around, so I knowwhat you mean. Excellent work.

Wow! You really captured the feeling and sense of desolation and isolation! I LOVE the ruined aquaducts. Brtilliantly composed and fantastically lit! Superb work!
