This little guy has been enjoying breakfast every morning this winter at the knothole in the tree outside my kitchen window. I’ve been trying to get a shot of him all winter but every time the door would move down the tree across the yard to the oak grove at the far corner of the yard he ran. Leaving me standing on the porch camera in hand watching him disappear in the branches of the big oak trees. Well as they say if at first you don’t succeed try, try again, so I did. Through the winter I raised the window talked to him until he was used to the sound of my voice, made noise at the door opened it just a little and closed it until he was used to that sound and movement. He became less and less easy to scare. This morning I propped the door opened set the camera on the tripod set it all on the porch and focused on the knothole. It wasn’t long before my little buddy came for breakfast. I eased down the hall and out the door behind the camera stood very still until he decided I was not a threat and went back to eating. Before long I could ease around the porch along with the camera and tripod as a diversion taking shots. Great fun and a lot of nice shots, this is my favorite.
