On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

That's an amazing shot, Bill! The sky looks fantastic!

Yes, a very attractive photo. Nice sprawling tree. Looks like a really strong wind might uproot it, however. The sky is beautiful.

cool sky/clouds

I don't think I'd keep the privy in my garden, unless it was brick built and against a wall! I long for blue sky!

Wonderful pic, Bill. Om my monitor I have to scroll to see all of it. The top third with the branches just showing is most unusual, because it looks as if the sky is roiling, as in a dark thunderhead. Such cropping puts a far different connotation to the image.

beautiful !

Awesome....

(lol, Andrea! With her garden, I would never want to go inside!) Really nice shot of big gnarly trees, and the house & outhouse give us perspective. Those are high old trees. Nice that you got the two buildings on one side of the shot; it balances out the sweep of the other side, and they really do look dwarfed by the trees around them...

Excellent shot and tree well done...

Love it Bill !!! My gran had an outhouse at her cottage in the Kent countryside, having to dash out was not the most pleasant night time experiences of my youth :)

Ah yes! That would be known as the 'Bog' here in the UK, among other things!! Ha! But, a stunning blue vista (sky not the PC programme. We don't talk about that!) Really beautiful and another fine shot! Well done again my friend. Rob.

trees are always so magical, I do love them very much...this one looks gorgeous against the sky...well done

Beautiful old tree and lovely against those wispy clouds, Bill! I remember having to go to the outhouse at a mountain cabin... in the winter... brrrr! :)

Back in the sixties we had outside dunnies, there are still a few in London that people are still using, when you consider the dietary habits of modern society, it's not really a bad idea LOL!, wonderful image Bill, that sky is beautiful.

Oh, wonderful. The smokehouse and all! I like the motion in the clouds, matching that of the tree.

Stellar clarity, colors and DOF in this capture, Bill! A veritable plethora of trunks, limbs, branches and twigs! Almost impossible to ignore the character and presence of a crooked tree, especially when outlined against the sky, which is most gorgeous in this instance.

Lovely contrasts of colour here with quite a dramatic look.

I love the cloud formation and really ties into the tree

I like it very much! The tree has such a strong architectural quality to it. Beautiful shot!

Great capture Bill. We used those outhouses during WWII in Sudetenland (Czech Republic) and they were damn cold in winter.

A country shot for sure...and a very nice one...
artaddict2
Beautifully composed image and wow what a size of a tree. Bravo!
bronwyn_lea
This is a really neat picture! They have outhouses out here still. Not in use but still standing. They are usually by the most beautiful old houses and barns.

Wonderful mate. You take these shots so well. Is that a bird at the top of the tree?
