My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I think the graininess adds to the quality of the photo, reminds me of the older photographs! great shot!
flora-crassella
wonderful image and photo!

The grain (noise) does help this image along IMHO, and the monochrome lifts it, as you say a great contrasty image.
Vizronze
looks like an old picture, so the graininess is actually just adding to the good old-style!

This is really a wonderful image of contrast and a great save in B&W, very nice work!!!

I do like B&W. I am very glad you stated your rationale...I got to check them all and do agree. Personally, I think we should do more in B&W. Bottom line, well done.

the grain gives it the "older photo" feel which is very appropriate to this shot. Excellent postwork. Great pov and composition.

I think the graininess works for you in this shot. I love the way the white "pops". Nice artwork .. makes me smile.

I have to agree...the grain just elevates it. Great shot.

Love the composition and I, like many, love the grain as well. Great capture!

Wonderful contarst between dark and bright and I do like a gentle grain. Question, would you like a grain better if you would give just a tad of sepia tone?
MrsRatbag
There's grain? OK, just kidding...it wasn't something that jumped out and hit me in the face or anything. I like this, for the same reasons you stated; there's something elegant about the whole thing. Nice work!
goodoleboy
Well now, a title that rhymes. Stunning clarity and contrast in this superlative black and white macro. Actually, the graininess is really a minor factor in this case and doesn't distract from the quality of the image.

Very nice, it does look like a photo taken in the 1920's. Lovely :))

Ooooohhh, this is great (gasp, she said THAT about B&W??!!)---and yes, I do see the great contrasts and shades!!

Like many others, I like the grain too, in part because it's subtly & softly applied. And yes, the buds & leaves you mention are subtle & beautiful and, in this light, they have the feel of older illustration styles; there's almost an ornamental look about them. And I think the lower half of the daisy is expressive as well. Very nice contrasts in blacks, whites & grays. And nice rhyme too! (Given that Harry knows every song in the history of the world, it's fitting that he'd pick up the rhyme!)

Looks good to me and especially in B/W...
