Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Amazing capture and lovely details too!!! In the second one there are more grain but the light is much better!!! Beautiful shot!!! :)

Wonderful pair of images. Wonder what the red "X" indicates? Normally. I would except the connotations as "condemned."

Great work Bill~ Nice to see the differences, always more to learn isn't there, what makes this all so fun in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your techniques. Happy Friday!

Cheers Bill!!!!! Beautiful plane! I have seen one in the UK flying only once (then it went to the US). I have a fondness for twin engined fighters!! As for the choice of pictures! Now I like Sky on the TOP one and plane on the BOTTOM! Is that confusing or WHAT! Seems a bit grainy on the bottom one....the sky that is. (Or is it me?) But! A beautifully angled shot of a lovely plane. Thanks, mate! Rob.

Great picture. Like the HDR work. As many of the AF fighter aircraft had the names of wives or sweetheart painted on the nose. Ref. Buck Shuler's F-4, maybe the "X" means his love left him for a Navy Driver. ;-)

A classic old war horse, this is a wonderful shot that isn't easy to achieve, Rock on Bill!

Excellent work!!! ROBY

You are good at this Bill, I've tried often to capture aircraft in flight and failed miserably with excess blur! great shot and info!

The favorite in our family, too, and we don't get to see them much. Excellent capture-- Thanks! The HDR looks good on the plane, but the sky gets pretty noisy.

Nice work, it looks great.

Put the second plane onto the first sky and then digitalfiddle...:) nicely done experimentation..

Great capture, cool birdie!

Super shots, it's always fun to take a foto and play around to see what happens--not that I ever do that!! LOL!!

Super shot. I always enjoyed seeing these P-38s when I was a kid. We lived near Paine Field in WA and there were lots of them there.

Thanks a million for this one Bill. A stunning shot of one of the best US warbirds in flight. That makes a huge difference with HDR and I think the graininess of the sky makes the plane stand out even more. This is well appreciated my friend :)

Very cool!

Hey, the type plane that shot down Admiral Yamamoto! The Fork-tailed Devil! My favorite pursuit ship of WWII, even more than the famed P-51. I have several shots on film I took back in 2000 of a renovated Lockheed P-38 sitting in a hanger at March AFB in Riverside, CA. It's the original silver metallic, and not dark like the one above. If I can ever find those photos I'll scan them and post it on RR. I even talked to to a veteran at March AFB who had piloted one of these beauties during the Big One. Anyway, great clarity and POV in this capture, Bill!

Great shot Bill. I'll routinely take 4 or 5 separate shots to end up with one HDR.

Great shot Bill. Love the P-38 and the angle of bank in this picture. I personally like the original version better. I tried to make some of my night shots crisper using photo shop and they became very grainy. We watched 'White Lightning' owned and flown by 'Lefty' Gardner at the Reno Races several times. 'Lefty' passed away recently, he was in the 80s. Great plane and I heard some great stories about these birds when they were used for photo recon in New Guinea during WWII.

Congrats ! Both of them look fantastic ! -------------------- Antoine de Saint Exypery was lost in'44 during recon with one of these planes, over the Mediterranean, and only recently the german pilot who downed him, aknowledged the kill, in his will. P

excellent capture and post work Bill.I love hearing a P38 flying

I know nothing about planes or these models, what I do know is that I like the shots and I do recognize the HDR work. (In visual & audio filtering, one not too seldom robs Peter to pay Paul when using powerful filters, and one has to compensate if they can, or accept the changes if they can't...) The lighting is vivid and almost ceramic-like; and I really like seeing these airborne. I like both shots; the grain is inevitable but it doesn't bother me at all. I just don't have the knowledge of some of your viewers, but it's interesting to read their reflections!

Well done Bill wonderful postwork see this: SNOWBIRD AIR SHOW

Either way, you have a great shot, but I see the results of HDR. I love the P-38 and know an old timer who flew these in Italy.

my favorite aircraft, haven't flown one yet,but someday, love your shot!!
