Description

Most of the masks in the picture are students of or models for the Accademia delle Belle Arti (Beaux Arts Academy) and usually they give their cards to photographers with "big cameras", the biggest the best . Other masks are just people, Venetians or foreigners (mostly French) who worked all the year around and put a lot of money just for their own pleasure. The are so many masks that's almost impossible to take picture of all of them. At the official opening ceremony "The Flight of the Dove" there were around 80,000 peoples in St. Mark's Square and other tousands were roaming all around Venice. how fabulously elegant all these masked people are! although venice must be very crowded at this time, it probably is a wonderful time to experience at least once :) thanks for sharing these wonderful photos!
