Description

Arc, the herbalist's son, had made his place in the troll clan long ago with the end of the tale of Isa. The lone survivor of an epic journey, he reaped the rewards of the retelling of the legend. He has since grown into a fierce warrior and a mightly summoner. One of the community serfs looks on with fear as Arc pulls forth the power of the light from the campfire. **** Been a long while since my trolls and the Tale of Isa. I was just revisiting them in my gallery and was inspired to do another image. Use Arc here, since he was the lone survivor from the tale. **** Had a problem here and would love some help. I rendered the original image in Vue6I. Saved the image as a .bmp. When I open it in IrfanView or XaraXtreme, it looks fine, but when I open it in my main photo program (PSPXI) it looks pixelated and my effects didn't work or look right. I ended up making the image look too dark (I think...not sure) because of the effect I was getting inside my PaintShopProXI with all the pixelation. Same image, when I was done reworking, looks fine in the other programs but not in PSPXI. I need to know what it looks like. I would like to know why it's looking pixelated only in PSP and how I can reset defaults. My favorite brush effects (dodge and burn at 0 percent hardness and 12 percent opacity) did not work correctly. They seemed to be applied at 100 percent hardness and 100 percent opacity. Anyone have an idea what's going on? Help!

Marvelous and welcome return to your fantasy world, Nancy! I do love those trolls, and you breathe such life into them. The fire is pixelated, but the rest of the image looks sharp. I have no idea what might be going on... I use a very old version of PSP and I'm still learning Photoshop - but I try to avoid post-work if I possibly can... :o)

Cool story line and great lighting. As for your PSP woes, I haven't come across that problem. Maybe you saved it at a smaller size then blew it up, thereby causing pixelation?

Regret can't help you on PSP, as I'm only on Photoshop currently. Despite the problems you've had, the lighting has really turned out well and adds a lot of drama and effect to the scene. Great work!!!

This is super, Nancy! I don't use PSP either so I sorry but no help there. However, I have found that if an app starts acting really wonky, reinstalling might help. Anyway, Awesome image here!

It looks just fine to me here. I wish I could help! I love a science problem - how about make a bunch of quick renders, save in every format, and see which ones are affected. BMP is not one format but many, I know when I save in PhotoShop there are lots of BMP options and some are more reliable than others. Best of luck, Nance!

You're best bet is to probably save it as a TIFF. I never liked BMPs. They are troublesome and huge. Nicely done on the image.

Excellent image Nancy. I wouldn't want to meet these guys in a dark alley.. nor anywhere else for that matter..lol. Can't help much about the pixelation beyond the obvious fact that all images should be done in .BMP only until the final is ready for posting. Only then convert to a jpeg compressed image. I have, but seldom use, PSPX and it seems to work fine. Do all .bmps look pixelated? (Old ones?) If so, would suggest calling PSP tech support. May have issues with your graphics card or chip set compatibility with the way PSP presents itself. If you save the pixelated image.. does it still look pixelated in another paint program? If yes, then the program is messing up. If not, then the program is displaying improperly. Anyway, sorry I'm running late.. so busy! Bravo and hugs from Dave :^)

Excellent lighting and atmosphere in this scene :) I don't know if this helps but I always save my images in png to bring it to postwork in Photoshop, that way I keep the transparency of the background and I have less problems of pixelating than when I save in jpg.

I love the darkness, the contrast with their faces lit up by the fire is wonderful! Sorry to hear about the problems, I'm afraid I am of no use as I do not have PaintShop Pro.
