Description

I'm not usually a gallery poster but I'm pretty happy with this crude approximation of my living room. The biggest difference between it and my real room is that I have a berber carpet instead of hardwood. Modeled in Maya in 2 hours, 45 minutes, rendered with Renderman Pro Studio in 45 seconds after eight hours of light and material tuning. Not perfect by any definition.

Nice render. I'm no pro at Maya but I think some things that may help would be to add a little odds and ends on the bookcase and on the table at an ultralow polygon setting and then just use Maya's own shaders that way you don't have to pull them from an outside source. Maybe another thing to add would be light coming from that lamp in the corner, that would definitely add some more render time though. Just a few ideas. -James
