Description

I would like to thank Andrea for her tips with the Poster Edge filter which I used along with some postwork.. The title comes from the Native Americans which this bird has become a symbol of the United States and was sacred to the Indians. The Lakota were originally referred to as the Dakota when they lived by the great lakes, however, because of European settlement they were pushed away from the great lakes region and later called themselves the Lakota which became part of the Sioux. This Eagle too was deprived of it's habitat, and has made something of a comeback, more I may venture to suggest due to it's Symbolic spirit of nationhood it has engendered, than as a result of direct conservation.

Great shot! and well done on the info... Coming from Sioux Falls and with the Lakota tribal headquarters not far away - it's nice to be reminded of home. Trivia: Lakota means Friend - this is what they called each other... Sioux means Snake - what their enemies called them.
