Description

Every year in Seattle they hold the Flower and Garden Show at the Convention Center downtown. I had never been before, but of course my friend Ann (she of the amazing garden) goes every year. I had no plans to go, but Denise (MrsRatbag) had two free tickets, and wasn't going to be able to make it. Ann was available, so we grabbed those free tickets and hot-footed it down to Seattle on Saturday to see the show! (Thank you, Denise!) :) One of the first things I saw when we got there was this zebra. It's part of the new carousel they're putting in at Butchart Gardens this summer. (Butchart Gardens is just North of Victoria on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada.) The minute I saw this fellow, I told Ann I had to stop and take pictures for Piet in South Africa. How often does one run into a zebra in the city? So here you are, my friend ... the City Zebra I've been promising you. I hope you enjoy him! He was very quiet and well behaved, and not at all dangerous.

What a perfectly behaved fella he was indeed! Kinda funny, I did expect a zoo specimen, but this equis species seems so elated and happy. Thank you for the smile!

The gardener who put this together was brilliant for using the flowers he did! Absolutely marvelous capture of this creature and surroundings.

the comments in the Photography Gallery are some of the best...best stories, best jokes, best puns, and people really care about each other...You have a way of getting certain shots with such classic elegance, the light in this feels just perfect, the zebra standing out really boldly against the dark greens (and yeah, they do look a little 'rousseau-ian') (is that a word?) The gold pole adds a fine accent too. Really fine act of seeing & capturing. A lovely shot.
