I FOUND THIS TO BE AN INTERESTING TREE. I'VE SEEN SYCAMORE TREES DO THIS, BUT THIS IS THE EXTREME. I DON'T KNOW THE NAME OF THIS TREE, BUT IT MUST GO THROUGH QUITE A GROWTH SPURT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISIT AND COMMENTS. thank you, Gaiadriel, we have a name. This is a river birch.

I don't remember the name of this tree, but this is what they do; there are several around here too. Nice capture!

I definitely remember the names of these. We had tons where I grew up as a kid. They're river birches. Thanks for the memory! You really should touch the smooth, light inner bark at points beneath where they peel away. It's a sensory delight, so oddly smooth.
