I am VERY impressed with your attention to detail in this image. It helps give it a classical feeling, as though it were an old painting (or at least a modern painting trying to look classical). It has a very strong "Role Playing Game" feeling, as though this were in a pirate supplement by Wizards of the Coast, or perhaps for use in the Seven Seas RPG. And, by the way, I mean all this as compliments -- this is as good (if not better) than a lot of the artwork I've seen used to illustrate these games. The textures and composition are what really bring this to life for me. The walls have a realistic, grimy seaside town look to them (a little more dirt and trash on the floor would help that look more realistic, as the stones look a little clean compared to everything else). The cat and rats are a nice bit of humor to the scene, as is that parrot who's obviously eyeing the food, wondering when he gets his bite out of it. Mostly, though, the work hinges on your expert portrayal of Drake's attitude. You can just sense his confidence and devil-may-care attitude. He is imposing and sexy at the same time. If I had to struggle to find any suggestions to improve this, I guess it would be to work on lighting him a little more. Right now it's just a bit too dark around his upper body. I don't think he should be brightly lit, but some additional subtle lighting (perhaps from the lantern on the stairs?) might increase the sense of his presence in the image. And even then, I'm not sure how much it would improve it, really. I also wonder if a slight change in lighting might help the wood on the window panes get more depth: right now they look a bit flat, compared to the rest of the background. But, of course, I'm nitpicking. You've done a great job with this image. Bravo!

Excellent work. As for the lighting your time of day seems right. If you wanted to play up the character a bit and you use photoshop try adding an adjustment layer (levels) to it to see if you main can pop out a bit. But, I still think its excellent.
